Holidays are over but is your body is still sleeping too long? Getting to school late the first few weeks of frazzles the best of us. There could be a million reasons a late arrival to school occurs, just make sure it’s not because you weren’t awake in time! Leave enough time to allow for a train, a traffic jam, or cattle crossing. Find ways to add creativity to your child’s prayer experience. Hold hands while you pray, or stand in a circle as a family. If you have an older child, encourage your child to keep a prayer journal. Select a simple Women’s Prayer Journal where he can write down a brief prayer each day. If you feel open and want to share with your child, ask each family member to record a prayer in the same journal, which will enable you to share the thoughts and hopes of one another.

A prayer journal is a little different than a regular diary type journal. Although, it is very easy to intertwine the two (I do). The idea behind the prayer journal is to focus on your conversations with God. Daily, write down the prayers you offer up to Him, including praises, desires, and hurts. You are basically writing letters to God and keeping up with them. In fact, you can even write your entries in letter form. The point is to keep up with what you are saying to Him. Though it is very important to write down any prayer requests, the idea is to encompass that but to go beyond that.

One should try to spend at least five or ten minutes not reading, not talking, not wishing, not writing not anything just contemplate silently that God is our Heavenly Father who loves us and wants only the best of ‘things’ for us. Then as we wait in the silence, we want to see if we can hear God speaking to our hearts. After, you have spent enough time for the various stages the next item is to write in your journal all the things you prayed about, all the things you read about as well as all the ‘feelings’ or ‘understandings’ you came to with God while in contemplation. That’s it! You are now done with your daily personal devotion! You will find that the more you have of these daily devotions the more time you will want to spend doing so.

Rely on God’s Promises: God has promised to hear us when we pray. “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him” (1 John 5:14-15). He may not answer in exactly the way we want, or when we want, but he will answer. And the more we pray, the more answers we’ll see.

There is no optical drive in netbooks while all laptops have one. This may put you off, but there are simple workarounds to the problem. Most software is available online. If you have a complete collection of albums on CD, you will have to think about an external DVD writer. Regardless of your religion, there are many ways to encourage your child to pray. Eventually, your child will begin to pray without your urging. Remember not to force your child to pray if he displays a lack of interest, but rather to gently encourage with love and by example.
